Dental Hygienist
Person who tries to prevent dental and gum disease in order to promote the acquisition and maintenance of good oral health. To this end, she teaches patients about oral hygiene care, performs cleanings and polishes to remove stains, plaque and tartar deposits that cause cavities and gum disease. She performs a brief oral exam, takes dental x-rays and reports to the dentist any signs of oral impairment or damage. She can perform cures (scaling, irrigation of periodontal pockets, etc.), collaborate in orthodontic treatments (teeth repositioning devices) as well as develop and implement prevention programs in public dental health.
