Assistant Store Clerk

A person in a department store who performs various handling, labeling, display and cleaning tasks to assist sales staff in meeting customer needs. His tasks include, among other things, transporting merchandise from the warehouse to the store, affixing labels, stocking shelves and displays, keeping merchandise clean and tidy, directing customers to the products they are looking for, to the fitting rooms if necessary or towards the cash desk, to report to the staff any defect or problem relating to the merchandise.
