Audiologist

Person who tries to prevent, diagnose and treat disorders of the hearing, the auditory system and the vestibular system. She assesses the hearing abilities of the hearing impaired, looks for the causes and aggravating factors of their impairments and makes a diagnosis. She designs and implements an intervention plan to restore her patients’ ability to communicate (hearing aid, communication strategies, sign language, physical rearrangement of the living environment, etc.). She also reacts to the emotional, social and professional consequences of disability by constituting, among other things, a mutual aid and support network. In the field of public health, she sees to the screening of hearing loss caused by overexposure to noise and develops prevention programs.
