Person who is specialized in the study of the chemical elements entering in the composition of rocks, minerals and hydrocarbons (petroleum, natural gas) and who analyzes samples of water, plants, soil, sediments or rocks of ” a given region to detect any trace of minerals or fuels that could lead to the discovery of new deposits. She also analyzes the chemical composition of oil and natural gas samples to assess their quality and determine whether it could be profitable to start operations. Finally, according to its mandate, she may be required to record the concentrations of mineral substances in certain watercourses in order to verify whether they represent a danger for the environment.
