UVA Historian Receives Berlin Prize for Study of the Post-WW2 British  Empire | UVA Today

Person who does research in order to be able to reconstruct and interpret the facts and events (social, human, economic, political) which have marked the history of a human community over a more or less long period of the past. He collects information from documents, archives, period objects and testimonies, assesses their authenticity and historical value, relates the facts, establishes their chronological order, attempts to ” explain the causes and influencing factors, then present the results of their research in written or oral form (book, journal article, research report, conference, documentary film, etc.). He can also act as a consultant to various organizations, prepare exhibitions or devote herself to teaching history. His work provides a better understanding of man and society as well as contemporary social problems.
