Person who performs various clerical duties relating to the purchase, receipt, loan and return of documents to a library or documentation center. She fills out and sends order forms, receives documents, checks their condition and, if necessary, sends them to the binding, prepares everyone for the loan (anti-theft label, loan card, etc.), places the books on departments according to the established classification system and works in customer service (reservations, loans, general information, new subscriptions, etc.). She also takes care of contacting subscribers who did not return the books on time and collects fines and rental fees. She can sometimes transcribe certain descriptions of books for inclusion in catalogs to help people with their research.
