Person who teaches basic school subjects to a small group of students with intellectual disabilities, in order to promote their optimal development on the physical, intellectual, psychological and social levels. She chooses study programs and offers students educational and recreational activities tailored to their needs and abilities. She supports them, both in terms of learning and behavior, in order to help them develop their full potential, acquire a certain autonomy, integrate socially and, if possible, continue their education in regular classes. She periodically assesses the general development of each individual, notes it in a file, follows up with parents and occasionally works in collaboration with other specialists.
