Veterinary Laboratory Technician

Person who performs various technical laboratory tasks to assist veterinarians and researchers in collecting data that will be used to diagnose and treat certain diseases affecting animals. She oversees the sterilization and maintenance of laboratory equipment, prepares animals and equipment to be used for experiments, performs biomedical tests on samples of tissues or biological fluids, records her observations and writes the daily report of her experiences. It may also, under the supervision of a veterinarian, prepare vaccines and serums, participate in contagious disease control programs, contribute to research on various pathologies or on the development of new drugs, collaborate in the development of in place and in the application of a research protocol using experimental animals.
